The Navigators Present "We the People"

This is our final run through before performing "The Preamble of the Constitution" in front of our schoolmates and our parents.  In our study of the Revolutionary War period, we've looked at several primary source documents including the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Performing at our all school Gathering is such a great opportunity to practice our presentation skills. As you can tell, we have memorized some very important words and are very proud of our wigs and tricorn hats!

Several weeks ago we came up with a classroom constitution that stated, in a similar fashion, the reasons why we need guiding principles and rules.

The Constitution of the Navigators

We the Navigators of Seabury School in order:
  •     To keep people safe
  •     To keep people free to learn
  •     To keep people happy
  •     To help people have fun
  •     To have peace
We promise:
  1. To follow safety rules
  2. To not distract others
  3. To respect people and property
  4. To treat others the way you want to be treated
  5. To include everyone
  6. To clean up after ourselves
  7. Be responsible
We then rolled up our sleeves and set out to sign it, using quill pens of course!
