May 20, 2014 Calling all rock sleuths!

Seventeen rocks have been found
in the hold of the S.S.Seabury
but the names have been lost at sea!

The task set before us:
can we figure out what these rocks are?
The Navigators and the Explorers
eagerly start their sleuthing!

What color does it leave on the streak test?

What is its texture?

What is its sheen?

Is it magnetic?

Does it float?

Is it light weight, heavy weight or usual weight?

What color is it?

What is its hardness number on the Mohs Hardness scale?

Does it have crystals?

Does it have layers?

Which clue does it match?

Now it's time to really start thinking...

...and to collaboratively compare notes.

Fait accompli!
The mystery of the
rock names has been solved!

Well done investigative detectives!
