The Navigators Visit Monet's Garden

Closing up our study of plants, and comparing the realism of Renaissance Art, the Navigators spent the last week of school focusing on the Impressionistic Art of Claude Monet. We listened to the wonderful children's book, Linnea in Monet's Garden and dreamed of visiting beautiful places. We looked at his art close up and noticed all the different colors seen in the water. We did some coloring pages and tried to emulate his short brush strokes. And then we got out our watercolor paints and painted Monet's Japanese bridge, water lilies, weeping willows and even a frog and a cat.
