April 16, 2013 The Thea Foss Waterway Seaport

The Thea Foss Waterway in Tacoma

Making our oil tankers

Loading up with oil

A huge wind storm causes our oil tankers to spill their oil.

Using a boom to clean up the spill

Trying to swab up the spill

Detergent helps. But does it do more harm than good?

How long does it take a diaper to decompose? Fishing line? Glass?

Meeting the entrepreneurial Thea Foss on our scavenger hunt.

This ferry carried livestock

A very interesting pedal powered boat on display

Learning about the fresh/salt water estuary of Tacoma's Commencement Bay

Which is heavier, fresh or salt water?

Fresh water is less dense (one fist) so it is on top of salt water (two fists)

Time to be creative and make our own boats

Learning about port and starboard

 The Foss Waterway Seaport!

    A beautifully remodeled building

A beautiful place to live and to take care of!
