December 4, 2012 Trip to MaST (Marine Science and Technology Center)

The tide was very high, lapping under and hitting the building we met in
creating a constant crashing sound.

"Arch," a rock and steel structure on the boardwalk at Redondo Beach.

The 40 foot skeleton of a gray whale discovered beached in
April 2010 on Arroyo Beach in West Seattle. Note the baleen.

Wow!

All the garbage found inside the whale's stomach including a golf ball.

Some hands-on (and nose-on) experiences

The smell of a dead whale (for the very brave.)

Trying to lift a slab of blubber

Let's try some teamwork.

A broken skull of a fin whale. The whale was hit by a ship.

A true whale watcher

Coaxing the eel out of its cave

Squishy

The underside of a sunflower starfish

We were instructed to keep our fingers moving so we wouldn't pull off tentacles.

Being very gentle

Can you see the flounder?

Working up the nerve to touch

This fish matches our new Seabury look.

A good perspective on how big Orcas are
