Picasso and Thiebaud, First Grade Style

With an oval, some zigs and zags,
a few extra eyes and ears here and there,
a lot of shapes, patterns and colors
and VOILA, Picasso!

Wayne Thiebaud was known for painting popular items,
hence the name pop art.

These gumball machines,
along with  bingo markers
and lots of color
were very popular with the Navigators.
We love art!

Basic Needlecraft with Gifted Students Is Not Your Ordinary Basic

This fall I offered the students at Seabury an extra-curricular class called "Basic Needlework." I have taught a lot of adults needlework over the years but these kids were not your ordinary basic students!  I have never had students design and create their own projects using patterns only as a starting point.

Well done creative, eager, persistent, teachable, risk-taking, happy, fun,
future designers and engineers!

It is a joy and a privilege to teach at Seabury!!

More Pioneer School Day

We still reminisce of the olden days at the Midway School on Donkey Creek.
So here are a video, a Venn Diagram comparison chart and some of our nicely done thank you notes.
