May 10, 2013 Zoo Snooze in the Shark Tank

The Navigators and many of their parents spent a delightful, educational, zany, bonding, enriching overnight at the Point Defiance Zoo's "Zoo Snooze." We touched the new-to-the-zoo sting rays, had a fish scavenger hunt, did a craft, had some popcorn, took a flashlight tour of the zoo amidst the cacophony of frogs, got ready for bed, had another snack, slept in the shark tank (well, not IN the shark tank although some wanted to), woke up way before the alarm clock, experienced a hurricane, had breakfast, made enrichment toys for the apes, watched more animals including the apes playing with their toys, said our good-byes and went home ready to do it again and ready for naps! The zookeepers kept saying, "These kids are smart!" Little do they know...

May 6, 2013 Auction Project

The Navigators' auction project was a year long cumulative event. We studied and visited the habitats of the Pacific coast salmon in the fall, we worked on our papier mâché project in the winter and spring, and we learned about caring for the Commencement Bay ecosystem in the spring. The three month art project taught us perseverance and  teamwork plus a new and different art form. And all for a good cause: our beloved Seabury School! Thank you parents (especially Dawn) for all your time and effort and thank you M. family for purchasing our work of art and work of heart!!
