November 28, 2012 November Happenings

ELECTION DAY

“Pollworkers serve on the frontline of democracy. Your commitment to public service is a tribute to you and your communities.”  A quote by a Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk

Our room is ready. The polls are open. The lines are long.

We make sure the voters are registered and vote only once.

Each person gets a ballot. We're voting for Head of School for a day, Secretary for a day and for the President of the United States.

The voters fill out their ballots in a private voting booth.

The ballots are placed in a sealed box.

The voters get their "I voted" sticker.

The ballots are accurately counted by very qualified pollworkers.

THANKSGIVING AT SEABURY

We go around the circle and all say what we're thankful for.

The Navigators have been practicing. We wrote down 100 things we are thankful for.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Feast--each class made something to share.

The acorns made by the Ladybugs were very popular.

Food, fun, friends. Lots to be thankful for.

A GUEST VISITOR: MRS. TOWNE'S MOM

Mrs. Nelstead shows us her Hardanger embroidery.

Some of the work she has done.
The children are very curious and ask good questions.

The question "How many loops did you have to do to go around the entire angel?" became a math problem.

Mrs. Nelstead, a first grade teacher for 30 years, still has the touch.

November 11, 2012 Thank You Soldiers

"Seabury's tribute to Veterans... Yes, they are saying the pledge in both English and French! We made this to post on the FB page of our kindergarten teacher's husband's unit, currently deployed in Afghanistan. Our kids make me proud!"

November 2, 2012 Collecting Flotsam at Dash Point County Park

The fifth grade Octopi joined us as we went to Dash Point County Park and started our collection of flotsam. We are studying ecosystems and are learning about the delicate balance of nature and how we can best care for it as people. As part of our study we will be creating a sculpture of the interesting items we find.

MORE FLOTSAM NEEDED
PLEASE BRING FLOTSAM TO THE NAVIGATORS' CLASSROOM FOR OUR PROJECT

Coming up with an idea

Another creation

Working together

It's an elephant
