What we like about swim lessons:

January 10, 2014 Arrrrrrrrg - First Friday Pirate Day!

Avast! We be  talkin' like pirates, dressin' like pirates, searchin' for treasure,  snackin' on pirate grub & carousin' (creatin') like pirates on the Great ShipSeabury!

Seabury landlubbers from wee to larrrrge dug out our eye-patches, bandanas & other pirate gear to be right & proper swashbucklers.

There was a lot of piracy and privateering going on during the Colonial Period. The Navigators enjoyed researching real pirates and reading about fictionalized pirates--the good, the bad, the silly, the horrid!

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!

X marks the spot!
The task set before us was to bury up us some treasure and create a map for the upper deck classroom.

The mateys were about to deliver ye olde treasure map to the upper deck group of land lubbers.

The map we be given of the upper deck classroom

The visiting pirates searching for treasure: two paces east, 10 paces north

Ahoy! The booty has been found!

Dividing the loot amongst we lasses

Pirate grub

More pirate grub

SHIVER ME TIMBERS!
A middle schooler's version of pirate grub--throw everything into a sandwich.

We watched ourselves a video called Port Side Pirates!
The wee ones enjoyed the music and the pictures,
the larrrrrrge ones watched to see how the children's picture book was animated by moving parts of the picture. On this page the waves were moving to and fro, up and down. The middle schoolers thought they just might give it a try some day.

It be a modern day Jolly Ranger flag!

Arggggggggggg!
Doing more research for perhaps our next pirate adventure
